What is ECE Regulation 116?
The ECE R116 standard is a European regulation that specifies requirements.
This standard specifies requirements for security systems in vehicles. It was developed to better protect vehicles and their contents from theft. For cargo space securing, this means that systems must demonstrate their effectiveness in securing commercial vehicles and vans. The certification process includes, among other things, the following aspects:
the reliability of the security system;
the functionality under different conditions;
durability in daily use;
its effectiveness against unauthorized access attempts.
By meeting this standard, a system demonstrates that it is suitable for professional use in commercial vehicles and logistics applications.
Independent testing by TÜV NORD
The tests for the ECE-R116 approval of Carbolt systems were carried out by TÜV NORD. This internationally recognized testing facility is considered a renowned testing center.
During the testing phase, comprehensive tests are conducted to assess whether the Carbolt 103 system functions reliably and meets the requirements of the ECE-R116 directive. The performance of the cargo securing system is examined in realistic operating conditions. Only when a system successfully completes all test procedures can it be officially approved according to the ECE R116 standard.
Carbolt's cargo space securing products were developed with this practice in mind. By using systems tested according to the ECE R116 standard and assessed by TÜV NORD, Carbolt offers a solution that combines reliability with professional safety requirements.
